Guide

Your first session.

From an empty terminal to a manager running a crew, then stopping it.

The Karma Yoga CLI is not released yet. This guide follows the current design, and command names may change before release.

  1. Check the machine.

Run karma doctor. It checks Claude Code, Codex and the built-in session server, and prints their versions.

    karma doctor
  2. Start a session.

Give it a name and a folder. The Karma Yoga CLI creates one window from the default template, with a protected manager on the left and the agent column on the right.

    karma new reports ~/Projects/reports

Use --template solo for a manager with no agents, or any template you have written in ~/.karmayoga/karma/config.toml.

  3. Attach to it.

karma attach draws the whole session as text in your terminal.

    karma attach reports
  4. Log in once.

The Karma Yoga CLI runs its own pinned copies of Claude Code and Codex with their own login, so the first time you log in inside it. Your own claude and codex logins are not touched.

  5. Tell the manager what you want.

The manager is a real Claude Code or Codex session. Type what you want done in the left pane, as you would in the tool itself.

› Add a CSV export to the reports page. Build it, test it, have it reviewed.
  6. Let it start the crew.

The manager knows the karma commands, because the Karma Yoga CLI ships its skills. It creates agents in the next free slot of the column and sends each one its work. You can run the same commands yourself.

    karma agent create builder
karma crew tell builder "Add a CSV export button to the reports page"

A message to a busy agent waits and is delivered when its pane is ready.

  7. Watch who is busy.

karma crew status shows who is running and who is busy or idle. karma crew history lists every message and whether it was delivered. karma agent see reads one agent's pane.

    karma crew status
    karma agent see builder
  8. Park an agent.

When an agent's work is done, it can be parked with karma agent deactivate. A parked agent keeps its conversation. karma agent reactivate brings it back.

  9. Leave and come back.

Sessions keep running when you close the terminal or the connection drops. Run karma ls to list your sessions, then karma attach to go back to one.

    karma ls
    karma attach reports
  10. Stop it.

The manager is protected, so karma kill is the only way to stop a session. It stops the session's processes and deletes the session.

    karma kill reports

Every command in one place.

The CLI page lists each command and the version it is planned for.
